Transmission Maintenance Services in North York

Over time, transmission fluid breaks down and gets contaminated, especially if you deal with extreme weather, city traffic or tow regularly. And when that happens, if left unchecked, it can cause extensive damage to the transmission.

Regular transmission service can also improve performance, reduce wear and tear and extend the life of your vehicle.

From a simple fluid replacement to a full service with filter and gasket change, at GTA Transmission we offer different levels of maintenance services to keep your vehicle running strong. We’ll guide you through what your vehicle actually needs.

Common Signs of Transmission Wear:

  • Car won’t move even with the engine on
  • Loss of power when accelerating
  • Hard or delayed gear changes
  • Trouble shifting into gear
  • Slipping between gears
  • Grinding or chattering sounds
  • Leaks under the vehicle

If you’re noticing any of these symptoms, bring your vehicle in. We’ll check it out and let you know exactly what’s going on and what’s the best repair solution.

Do’s & Don’ts of Transmission Maintenance

✅ Do:

  • A good rule of thumb is to perform a transmission fluid service (aka oil change) at every 30,000 km or once a year. But you don’t need to keep tabs. We will send you annual reminders when time is up
  • Have your transmission fluid checked during oil changes. We can perform both, one stop maintenance and you are good to go!
  • Always come to a full stop before shifting gears

❌ Don’t:

  • Drive with low, contaminated or no transmission fluid
  • Shift from drive to reverse while the vehicle’s still moving
  • Spin your tires hard on turns (especially in FWD vehicles)
  • Keep driving if you know there’s a transmission issue—it only makes it worse (please don’t do it!)
  • Drag race your vehicle (it’s tough on the transmission, we’ve seen it)
  • Use 4×4 mode on dry pavement unless your vehicle is designed for it
  • Drive too long on mismatched or spare tires if you have AWD or FWD
