Clutch Repair & Manual Transmission Service in North York

At GTA Transmission, we don’t just work on automatics. Manual transmissions are part of our daily routine, too. If you drive stick, your clutch connects the engine to the transmission and gives you full control over how your car shifts. Unlike automatics, manuals are mostly mechanical and rely on you, the driver, to change gears.

Maintenance Matters—Yes, Even for Manuals

People often forget that transmissions, automatic or manual, need regular care. Over time, transmission fluid breaks down, which can lead to hard shifting, gear grinding or even internal damage.

We recommend a transmission fluid service about once a year or every 30,000 km, depending on your vehicle and driving habits. If you’re not sure whether you’re due, just ask. We’ll check your service history and help you figure it out.

Warning Signs of Clutch or Manual Transmission Trouble

If you notice any of the issues below, your clutch or manual transmission might need attention:

  • Clutch slipping: engine revs but the car doesn’t move like it should
  • Grinding or crunching noises when shifting
  • Shaking or noise in neutral, often caused by low or old fluid
  • Lack of response or delay when engaging gear
  • Check engine light, which can signal transmission problems, too!

The good news is that catching these issues early doesn’t always mean a major repair. Sometimes it’s just a fluid service or a small adjustment. But if ignored, they can lead to bigger, more expensive problems.
